Baringo Governor, Benjamin Cheboi breaks the ground during the launch of a tarmac road running from Bondeni Mosque to Eldama Ravine bakery in Eldama Ravine Town.

Governor Benjamin Cheboi has launched construction of a tarmac Road from Bondeni mosque to bakery in Eldama Ravine town.

He advocated for the upgrading of Eldama Ravine town to a municipality just like Kabarnet.

“I am pushing the agenda of making Eldama Ravine a municipality. This will enable us to acquire

more funds from the national government and improve infrastructure here, “said the

governor.

He added that he will work together with his committee to ensure that residents from Eldama

Ravine secure jobs when the project begins officially.

The committee comprises of Governor Benjamin Cheboi. County Chief Officer (CC)Roads,

Eldama Ravine MCA,Hon.Julius Ngo’tie,Sub-County Administrator,Dorcas Kibet, Town

Administrator Bismark Kosgei and Town Administrator Paul Talam.

Governor Benjamin has also promised to improve basic infrastructure such as feeder roads,

water piping systems and street lighting in Eldama Ravine.

  Pedestrian Killed In Accident At Eldama Ravine Town An elderly woman died on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a private vehicle while crossing the road in Eldama Ravine town. Confirming the incident, the Koibatek Sub-County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Ongaya said the lady was pronounced dead on arrival at Eldama Ravine Specialists Hospital which is just 20 meters from the scene of the accident. “The victim was crossing the road between Africa Fuels petrol station and Taidy`s Hotel when a dark Subaru Forester of registration number KCT 755U which was heading towards Nakuru hit her,” said Ongaya. Ravine Security Intensifies Crackdown On Illicit Brew The Koibatek Sub-County security team has intensified the war on illicit brew in the area to minimize the dangers emanating from the consumption of the brew. The crackdown follows a meeting conducted between the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ leaders and the security chiefs in the area. The security heads led by area Deputy County Commissioner, Judith Cheruiyot, blamed the upsurge of increased consumption of illicit brew, which has been the trend for a long time. The meeting, which was also attended by Chiefs and their Assistants, follows an impounding and destruction of 1,250 liters of  chang’aa  in the Maji Mazuri area.
